World Record Price For Rally Escort

World Record Price for a Rally Ford Escort at Bonhams.

At Bonhams' sale of collectors' cars at Race Retro, Stoneleigh, on Saturday 15 March 2008, 1972 Ford Escort RS 1600 Mk 1 Saloon sold for £89,500. This is a world record auction price for both a Rally Ford Escort and for a Mark 1 Escort.

The car in question was the 1972 Escort RS 1600 Mk I saloon as driven to victory by Bjorn Waldegard in the 2007 East African Safari Rally.
